Ok, this idea that I’m going to “give Pinker what for” is absurd and damaging to my psyche. Obviously I’m transferring all my frustration at my dad onto Pinker, when what I need to do is forget the frustration. It’s in the past. Let’s simply acknowledge that I will intermittently work to bridge the discourses around behavioral genetics, cognitive science and post-structuralism.
In the meantime, here’s a cool article from Sci Am Mind about how brain imaging research is bearing out psychoanalytic concepts such as suppression and dissociation. Add it up and I’m sure you’ve got the neural correlates of transference in there, too. Zing.
